Lower East Side Merchants: Will They Survive Malls, Martinis and Media Hype? Report to be Released June 2009

This economic study looks at the result of gentrification from the perspectives of both retailers and consumers in the neighborhood. The findings came from a survey of 140 business owners on Delancey and Orchard Streets. Researchers also surveyed 165 shoppers about their opinions on the commercial district.
